A Message From FEP President, Jorge Lopez MD FACEP
As emergency medicine advances through the early 21st century, Florida Emergency Physicians stands out as the recognized leader in acute care. FEP is privileged to deliver emergency medical care to more than 400,000 patients a year within Florida Hospital in the Greater Orlando area. The American Hospital Association recognizes us as the largest emergency department system in the United States. HealthGrades bestowed the Emergency Department Excellence Award in 2010 to Florida Hospital's Emergency Department system in metropolitan Orlando, placing us in the top 5% emergency departments in the nation, translating into a 39% lower risk-adjusted mortality for our patients.
Providing cutting edge care in the emergency department with programs such as the Brain Attack Initiative/Comprehensive Stroke Center, which includes an interventional neuroradiology pathway for stroke patients, or the Code STEMI program, which allows for immediate cardiac cath lab intervention for patients with myocardial infarction, has contributed to the US News & World Report recognition of Florida Hospital as one of the best hospitals in America. In addition to training future emergency physicians, our three-year
Emergency Medicine Residency Program serves also as the beacon leading the way in vanguard emergency care. FEP enthusiastically inaugurated the first Computerized Physician Order Entry program, CPOE, within Florida Hospital and we eagerly anticipate the next step, the Electronic Medical Record, EMR, to better serve our patients.
Florida Emergency Physicians embraces the opportunity to serve within this state of the art environment while looking forward to delivering the best emergency care possible to the citizens and visitors of Florida!

Celebration Health Emergency Department’s motto is “Make a Difference One Patient At A Time.” The Celebration ED opened its new addition in 8/2011 and in December with refurbishing the old ED we went to a total of 48 beds with 6 OBS beds. The New Tower boasts an Innovative Unit with state-of-the-art infection control measures. With the new tower the hospital now has 175 inpatient beds. All the new ED Rooms have a TV, bathroom and patient friendly lightning. For the patient, they have privacy through frosted glass. Rooms provide generous space for nursing and ancillary staff to perform care. Welcome boards adorn the wall informing the patient who their caregivers are. Family have waiting areas outside the patient room and have their own access to the patient through a separate entrance. Each room has space to accomodate family with internet access. We have two resuscitation rooms with state-of-the-art equipment and plenty of space for multiple providers to provide care simultaneously. The waiting area has a wonderful kids play area to keep them base. We also have a new Flash CT, which allows us to studies with the minimal dose of radiation in a matter of a minute.

Dear Jennifer Lombard, PA-C,
My husband and I brought our 1 ½ year old daughter to your ER. She fell in our Disney hotel room and required 11 stitches in her eyebrow area. Since she is a young, fair skinned girl, we hesitated on where the sutures should be done- Celebration or Children’s Hospital. You were very kind, professional and reassuring. We wanted you to know that her stitches were removed on day five by our pediatrician’s office. Both the pediatrician and nurse practitioner said they looked great. Everyone says how nice the area looks- smooth, and a straight, tight line.
This past year has been one of transition for us all at Kissimmee. Dr. Pandya and I had the daunting task of replacing Dr. Cisneros and Dr. Nunez, but the staff extended a very warm welcome and have made us both feel at home. This year has also brought in new talent in nursing leadership including Linda Fink, our new Nurse Manager, Gail, our daytime ANM, and Marie, our Nurse Educator. Our increase in patient volume this year has been challenging, but we have relocated our lean track to improve our efficiency and have seen positive results. We would like to thank our nursing staff and mid-level providers for embracing this change and making the new lean track successful. The department leaders recently participated in the Studer conference and enjoyed working together to implement new ideas to improve our ED. Dr. Pandya and I are looking forward to overcoming the challenges of the new year with a united leadership team and a hard working and dedicated staff.

I want to thank my team at Winter park for their willingness to change. We have and continue to be different which is not easy. I want to sincerely thank each of them for their continued trust and confidence that we will get where we want to be. Over the last year, we have made great strides which would not have been possible without the dedication from Lucine Humes in the triage track, she has been the maverick we needed during this pilot. Victor Quinones and Frank Karp in the Lean tracks have been taking charge of the flow which has been critical for our department. We now enjoy a full compliment of physicians as well. We have welcomed Dr Faith Reimer, Dr Kevin Casebolt and myself this year. Thank you to my physician leaders for your work throughout the year at the many meetings representing our department from Dr Friend in risk , Dr Chon and Maulfair at sepsis , EMS and Cap, Dr Koscinski for her help with the Patient Experience pilot at Winter Park and Dr Casebolt with his help with ultrasound. A big kudos goes to Dr Mitch Maulfair who has been elected as Winter Park Memorial's newest Secretary of the medical staff. Finally, thank you to Dr Sarkarati, who has been so many things for me this year I cant thank him enough. He has been instrumental for many of our plans and through all the commotion was still able to have his first baby named, Brody. Congratulations! I look forward to the new year and and the fruits that our efforts will bring!
